Cauliflower Gnocchi

Calling all cauliflower lovers! If you are someone who loves comfort food then this is an item perfect for you.

Many of you have probably tried the classic Italian dish, Gnocchi. Traditional Gnocchi are small dumplings made from potatoes and flower. The potatoes are then mashed and mixed with flower to create a dough thats formed into small little pieces that are then boiled. These delicious little lumps are then mixed with different sauces, vegetables, and meats to make different dishes.

Why should I try cauliflower gnocchi over regular gnocchi? This cauliflower gnocchi will give you the same satisfaction of eating regular gnocchi, but with way more health benefits. The cauliflower gnocchi from Trader Joes is soft, delicious, satisfying, and you are getting a serving of vegetables in your meal without even knowing it! It is made with 75% cauliflower, with some cassava flour, potato starch, extra virgin olive oil, and sea salt. There is no wheat, sugar, dairy, or eggs in this frozen meal!

Before I cooked the cauliflower gnocchi I did some research online on the best way to cook it. The number one advice was to NOT follow the instructions on the bag. Apparently if you do this then your gnocchi will come out mushy and stuck together. Instead cook it this way:

  1. Heat 2 tablespoons of oil or butter (I used olive oil)
  2. Add frozen gnocchi straight from the bag into the skillet
  3. Let the gnocchi sit undisturbed for 2-3 minutes
  4. The gnocchi will unstick from each other on their own
  5. Once the gnocchi starts to turn golden brown on the bottom flip them
  6. Flip the gnocchi letting them saute, and shake the skillet every minute or so until the gnocchi is golden brown all over
  7. This whole thing should take around 7-8 minutes

After the gnocchi is cooked you can add whatever sauce, vegetable, or other topping you would want! Personally, I used a classic red tomato sauce and it was delicious. I would for sure recommend trying this product! A solid 9/10.

  1. Yum! I love TJ’s gnocchi, my husband likes it best with just olive oil and garlic powder. They’re pretty inexpensive too!

  2. Gnocchi taste with the added vegetable serving? Sounds perfect to me. We haven’t driven down to TJ’s in awhile so we’ll have to add these to the list. Great detailed cooking directions. Thanks!
